Sustainability is a big, bold idea. It means doing things that “meet the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.”

We're all for that. We're committed to sustainability. We strive to make positive social and environmental impacts on the planet. Our commitment to buying and selling only 100% Certified Organic and 100% Certified Fair Trade coffee goes a long way to achieving that... but we don't rein in our efforts there.

Other kick-ass ways we're sustainable

• We support sustainability in our local community. For example, we’re proud to support our local Anti-Idling initiative.
• We’re introducing more and more recycled and recyclable packaging. Yes we can!
• We present our to-go hot beverages in ecotainer™ cups. They’re made from renewable resources and have a small environmental footprint—they can even go in the compost.
• We do other sustainable stuff— including energy efficiency and renewable energy initiatives. Check out our solar hot water panels heating all those lattes in the Café!
• We are experimenting with several types of composting to dispose of our organic wastes from kitchen and café and have a healthy community of “red wigglers” in our worm bin to prove it!
• Greenhouse gas emissions reduction initiatives.
• Ongoing recycling of all paper, plastics and cardboard.
• We support non-profit groups that add to the sustainability of our planet’s life support system. For example, we support the Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC). We contribute financially to conservation projects in our region.
